Stability…as in steady, strong, solid.
The Empire State Building? The Rock of Gibraltar? Dover Dam? The triangle? Family units, stock market, neighborhoods, humanity? Sometimes.
A team of scientists at The Long Now Foundation have created a monumental $45 million ‘clock’ in the Texas desert … built to last 10,000 years! It’s purpose? To have a time-based reference point for defining ‘stability’ …. something that is apparently essential for understanding and managing our universe, our lives, into the future.
The writer of the Book of Psalms references a ‘stability’ that is not connected to either time nor historical events …. but essential for “understanding and managing our lives into the future”. Each of the twenty-six verses in Psalm 136 begins with a different set of circumstances and concludes with four simple words, “His love endures forever.”
You and I were created to depend on a ‘reference point” that endures forever…a Truth for all circumstances, a ‘stability’ that goes beyond a concrete monument lasting 10,000 years.
“And He will be the stability of your days.” Isaiah 33:6
