From Darkness to Light

Dear Friends,

Do you remember the first time you were introduced to Roman Numerals around the 4th or 5th grade? Computations were done by adding or subtracting 1, 5, 10, 50 or 100. That was about it… no algebra, calculus, or complex equations. Didn’t get you very far.

That all changed with a simple and profound idea by 9th century mathematician, Al-Khwarizmi. He introduced Arabic numerals 1, 2, 3, etc. to replace Roman numerals leading to the decimal system. This “simple profound idea” changed everything about how calculations could be made… from making change to solving complex equations or applying quantum physics. Every day you and I are the beneficiaries of a very simple profound idea that has led to nearly every scientific advancement.

Jesus, Himself the very “simple and profound” Word of God, has changed everything about how you and I calculate for the journey… “I am the Light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12.

Roman numerals are to “walking in darkness” as Arabic numbers are to “walking in the Light.” Gets you where you need to go.

His care and Happy July 4th.
