Dear Friends,
Magnets, holding notes to refrigerators and the USB cord to computers. As a kid I had two miniature metal magnetic dogs… one red and one white. When they were slowly moved towards one another, all of a sudden, they were slammed together by the magnetic force.
There is a reason for all of that attraction and cohesion. Our high school physics teacher, Mr. Tom Kane, and physics professors before and after him, have helped us understand that what holds all things together is EMF, electro-magnetic force. EMF is the principal force that holds atoms together in molecules. EMF is the force that causes a chemical reaction in your dish detergent, the force that keeps the material in your coffee cup together, the force that keeps the wood together in your chair and the clothing together that you wear.
Not everything we need for being “held together” as human beings is found in a “closed universe” where the five senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch alone can be measured and where reality is defined. We were created for an “open universe” where reality exists beyond the five senses and where “eye has not seen nor ear heard nor human mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” I Corinthians 2:9
So, if things around us are a bit disconnected and fractured, there’s more to consider. That is the final reality expressed by the Apostle Paul “…all things hold together in Him.” Colossians 1:17.
Enjoy the summer and the assurance that God’s got this… holding all things together in your life.
