Nearly 50 years ago singer/songwriter Bill Withers wrote the #1 single, “Lean on Me.”
You just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on;
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on.
The words resonated then, and they resonate today. We’ve been created to lean on one another and on the One who created us for one another and for Him.
The Easter message is a message of “leaning”… leaning on the One who validated both his everlasting love for us and God’s power over sin and death.
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26
“For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand. It is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, for I am the One who helps you.’” Isaiah 41:13
The Easter reality is never quarantined. It is the story about each of us and God’s love for all of us… this day and every day.
