Love Endures Forever

Dear Friends,

Repetition. Mr. Alexander, “Trombones take it one more time from the fourth measure.” With Shough, or Keuerleber, or Daniels it was reviewing the skeletal muscles or the declensions or the periodic table one more time. Coaches Haines, Miller, Elford and Vrotsos seemed obsessed with the words “run it again.”

There was a common theme for learning and owning the subject… repetition. Sing it one more time. Memorize it one more time. Block it one more time. Sand it one more time. Play it one more time. Write it one more time. Run it one more time. It’s how it becomes yours.

Researcher Dr. Robert Bruner of the University of Virginia summarizes a study on learning by stating “the deepest ‘aha’s’ spring from an encounter (with the subject) and then a return again and again. Repeating the encounter fuses it into one’s awareness.”

Repetition and Awareness. The writer of Psalm 136 had already figured out the connection between repetition and awareness. He leaves no doubt about what truth we are to own… “God’s steadfast love endures forever.” That phrase occurs 26 times in chapter 136 of Psalms.

It is a reality that we are to get, again and again and over and over… God’s love is steadfast. His love is enduring. His love is forever.

Enjoy the gift of today… repeating, knowing, and living this great reality, “God’s steadfast love endures forever.” “God’s steadfast love endures forever.” “God’s steadfast love endures forever.”
