Dear Friends,
Disqualified. Cancelled out. Lots of reasons… age, height, eyesight, or previous illness. Maybe it’s education, or race, missing a deadline or a lost relationship. It doesn’t matter. It stings… whether it was your fault or caused by another or just life.
Biting an opponent’s ear is dumb and it disqualifies. But that’s what heavyweight fighter Mike Tyson did to his opponent, Evander Holyfield, in the 1998 heavyweight championship bout.
Astronaut Clayton Anderson overcame 15 different disqualifications on his way to having the “right stuff” described in his book The Ordinary Spaceman.
Breckynn Willis, a member of her high school’s swim team in Anchorage, Alaska was initially disqualified because her school issued swimsuit didn’t fit her body. She was later reinstated.
Disqualifying performances come in many forms. Qualification for life comes in One form.
Consider the following:
- “Let no one disqualify you, for God has qualified you…” Colossians 2:18 & 1:12
- “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
- “Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:11
Have a great day, a day God has qualified you for.
His care,
~Wynn
