Seeing Completely

Dear Friends,

How do we “see”?

A very generic description would be that the iris controls how much light the pupil lets in. Followed by the cornea, the lens, the retina, the rods and cones all playing a part in the electrical messages that the optic nerve sends to the brain. Somehow the brain makes sense of it all… and we “see”. But not completely.

In his book, Believing is Seeing, Harvard physics instructor, Dr. Michael Guillen, citing the latest discoveries in neuroscience, physics and astronomy, provides a compelling case for why reality is most completely “seen” through the eye of faith.

So here comes Easter, the celebration of life over death. An event where “the mortal has been clothed with immortality.” An event we never saw, but an event that changed history for each of us… a reality that is “seen” through the eyes of faith.

How is that? It’s something we’ve been doing every day… living on planet earth and in a universe that is both real and mysterious… one that we understand and one that is beyond our understanding. A universe that, in order to see completely, requires us to allow the eyes of faith to complete what physical vision cannot “see”. Making sense of it all.

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.” 1 Corinthians 13:12

Because I live, you too shall live.” (Jesus) John 14:19

See Well. Enjoy the sight. Happy Easter.
