Dear Friends,
Achieving the high bar… perhaps in music or business or sports or academics.
Rock climbers have a high bar… it’s El Capitan. Over the years, hundreds have attempted to scale its smooth granite surface that rises vertically some 3,000 feet above the Yosemite Park floor. Over 30 have fallen to their death in their attempt to accomplish this “high bar” of rock climbing.
But on June 3, 2017, Alex Honnold became the first and only person to ever climb El Capitan free solo without a rope. Alex Honnold set the bar so high that few will ever achieve.
Former Twitter CEO, Dick Costolo, commented that “once in a rare while, somebody comes along who doesn’t just raise the bar, they create an entirely new standard of measurement.”
Not just an Alex Honnold who raises the bar but “an entirely new standard,” a standard of a different kind.
There is One who created an “entirely new standard”… who set the bar so low, at such a cost to Himself, that anyone can get in on it…the weak, the broken, the lost, the shamed, the unqualified. It’s an inclusive standard, a standard of a “different kind.”
No one gets excluded… except by the mountain of their own ego, their own pride.
“...to all who received him, to those believing in his name, he gave authority to become God’s children.” John 1:12
The “high bar” has been cleared on your behalf.
Have a great day,
~Wynn
