Dear Friends,
Do you have a smart phone? If so, you’ve likely asked Siri for directions or used her for a quick answer to a trivia question. She’s usually right… but not particularly thoughtful or comprehensive. Ask Siri who Jesus is, and she will tell you that His field of work was “carpentry.”
She is partly right using Webster’s definition of carpentry being “the art of shaping and assembling structural woodwork.”
Jesus did work as a carpenter in his earthly father’s wood shop, “shaping and assembling” wood. But His “field of work” had to do with you and me… with “shaping and assembling” our brokenness into His design and purpose for which we were created… our identity as children of our Heavenly Father.
“We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
“He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion on the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6
We can fully trust the Carpenter’s workmanship for our completion.
His care,
~Wynn
