Dear Friends,
Loss captivates us and captures us. Nothing else matters whether you are lost or you have lost your wallet or have lost your capacity to do what you once did. The ABC drama series Lost captured American TV audiences for 10 seasons. Why? Because we can all identify with the frustrations and fears associated with loss.
When we are lost, the drive to know where we are, or to find what is lost, preempts all other considerations. We become undone.
Lostness disorients and debilitates… it makes us anxious about what’s next, clouds our thinking and makes us feel out of control. Can what was lost ever be found or regained?
COVID-19 has threatened the loss of some of our most basic needs for living as human beings… close friendships, freedom of movement, secure environment, access to health, celebrating joys, and consoling sorrow.
There is the Way through lostness that is trustworthy…
- “I am the Way” John 14:6
- “I am your Shepherd” Psalm 23:1
- “I have come to seek and save the lost” Matthew 18:11
- “I will hold your right hand” Isaiah 41:13
Let these realities of assurance capture you today.
Sincerely,
~Wynn
