Dear Friends,
If you were wondering… the “2021 Word of the Year” is “allyship”… as per dictionary.com.
The word “allyship”… first noted in the 1840s where it was defined as a “loyal and trusted ally”. More recently the term has come into use in conversations focused on marginalized populations and inclusion.
But the idea of “allyship” was present in God’s heart at the time of creation. And not surprisingly it meant “trusted inclusion”.
Have you seen the TV commercials, “He Gets Us”? The commercials underline the fact that “God gets all of us” who have been disappointed, wearied, broken, dismissed, aging, lost… all of us needing an “Ally”.
Some allyships from a reliable source for your New Year:
- “Behold, God is my helper and ally; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul.” Psalm 54:4
- “God is my loving ally and my fortress, my tower of safety, my rescuer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him.” Psalm 144:2
- “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
Year 2022 will include uncertainties for most of us… but none that can dismiss us or cancel us from God’s “allyship” that began before time and continues into 2022. “He gets us and He includes us.”
Happy New Year,
~Wynn
