WAIT

by | Sep 23, 2023

Dear Friends,

Do you remember the Student Safety Patrols in elementary school? If chosen to be a student patrolman, you were outfitted with a belt that had a diagonal strap across one shoulder, a badge and perhaps a flag. Now you were in charge of making someone wait. Good luck!

The idea was students valuing and respecting fellow students and protecting them at intersections and crosswalks. That often meant waiting till the Student Patrol lowered his or her arms and announced it was safe to cross the intersection.

Waiting. Not a trait we were born with. Waiting for daylight to arrive, the appointment to be made, the wound to heal, the gates to open, the phone to ring, the promise to be kept.
Waiting….seldom without some groaning.

Life is full of intersections and cross walks…some seen and anticipated and others show up
rather suddenly. In either case, having to wait at these intersections, though often frustrating and feeling like wasted time, can end up being an unexpected gift. Who of us haven’t benefitted from having had to wait…or wish we would have waited?

The Spirit makes us sure about what we will be in the future. But now we groan silently, while we wait for God to show that we are his children.” Romans 8:23

God is never more present for us than when we arrive at one of life’s intersections …and wait in His presence. Enjoy this Labor Day weekend.

His care,

~Wynn
