What you’re Made For

by | Dec 1, 2020

Dear Friends,

You’ve seen it! USAA’s new marketing slogan, “What you’re made of, we are made for”… grounded in what the military community needs and values.

The 19th century nursery rhyme has its own version of what we are made of… “little boys are made of snipes and snails and puppy dog tails and girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice.” But “cute” has a shelf life.

Our high school biology teacher, Mr. Shough, got our attention when he told us our bodies were mostly made up of water… approximately 70%. Sobering… especially to fragile self-images of high school students.

British songwriter-singer Lucie Silvas in her album “What You’re Made Of” sings, “If it’s not what you’re made of, You’re not what I’m looking for.”

This Christmas season is a good time to be reminded… reminded that what you are looking for, that what you are made of and Who you are made for… are all found in the One, “a Savior who is Christ the Lord.”

May the “good tidings of great joy that are to all people” be yours this Christmas.

Merry Christmas,

~Wynn
